Why I want to become a P.E. Teacher

In schooll I loved PE it was always my favorite class. We only got it once a week in Ireland and even some days because of the Irish weather we wouldn't be aloud outside and have to sit inside a class room and do nothing. Also on some occasions when we got to play other students who hated P.E. would bring it down for us who wanted to do well. In Ireland P.E. is not a graded stubect and for me who doesn't like school too much I would have got a good grade in physical education. I want to teach PE in Ireland and make classes more fun where eveybody takes part in and enjoys. I want to teach kids how to learn different games and learn why pyhsical activity is so important. Aslo maybe some day we might change the education system into making PE a graded subject and that everyone has a PE class once everyday.

ARC Aqua Aerobics Class!

This evening at 6pm I went to the ARC with two buddies of mine to join in on the Aqua Aerobics class. We needed to go to this class so we could write a reflection on it for our class Aquatics foundations. So taking the easy way out we decided to go to the begginers class but my god were we in for a shock! First of all the water was freezing so we had no choice to get moving so we could warm up and second of all we were in for a treat! We stared off by treadeing the water with different movements down in the deep end of the pool. We did this for about 20mins and lord was it tough! We were warmed up then let me tell you! We then moved back to the shallow end and did some water weights and my arms are going to feel it tomorrow! It lasted the whole hour!

I have to say I actually really enjoyed it! It was a great workout and I'm surprised not many people were there? Was only four there tonight. I'm going to go again next week as its different and for someone like me who is injured at the moment it didn't hurt my knee at all. These things should be advertised more I think as young and old people are missing out on a fun but great workout!

Monday and wednesday nights for begginers 6-7pm!

Knee keeps knocking me Down.

I had injured my knee in a club soccer game pretty badly, I'll never forget the pain of it. I knew straight away it was serious. On March 2009 I went under the knife for an Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) reconsturction. I was devastated, this ment I would be out of playing for at least a year! At the age of 20 I should be at my peak and playing all I can winning medals, not sitting in a gym on my own doing boring quad extensions! It was a long hard year but I got through it.
Then one day I got an exciting phone call, it was from a coach in a College in America called Slippery Rock Universtiy. This coach Noreen Herlihy (Irish woman too!) wanted to give me a scholarship to play for her team! I was amazed and very happy. My luck had finaly turned around but not for long.

I arrived here in Slippery Rock on the 21st of August and was starting games and loving every bit of it! Then on my 16th game V's I.U.P at home I was hit hard, sandwiched between the goal keeper and a defender as I dove to head the ball. I stayed down, my knee was hurting bad (yes the same knee!). I cried not because of the pain but because I knew my season was over. I got an MRI scan done and it showed up two meniscus tears and a slight tear in my medial ligament. I missed out from plying in the PSAC semi finals and the NCAA's. It broke my heart sitting on the sideline not being able to play. I thought I was over all my problems with my knee but it has me out again. I'm currently doing my rehab and might need another operation soon to get my meniscus repaired. Hopefully that will be it after this injury please god and I'll be ready to Rock for next season!

SRU Soccer Season Flys!

Seems like only yesterday when I was sitting on a Delta Airline plane on my first trip across the waters to America. I couldn't say I was happy about it but I can definetly say I was terrifeid, I actually cried alot on the way over, leaving my family was very hard especially after seeing my father cry when I was saying goodbye really hit me hard. My first week here at Slippery Rock was very tough, I remember just feeling lonely and wanting to go home. Then as soon as school started and soccer training it took home off my mind and I finally started to enjoy it. Coach and the girls were really good to me.

When I saw our poster and all our 24 games printed up on it, it seemed like so much games and now its over and I can't believe it. I scored my first goal against Senton Hill which we won 2 nill but should have won by 6 or 7? It was one of those games when the ball would hit everything nut the net! I scored 5 goals in total this year. We did very well this year and made it to the PSAC semi's and lost to Westchester in PK's, was edge of the seat stuff that game and The Rock were so close to winning.West Chester went on to win the final. We made the NCAA's and travelled to Cal University and won the first round v's West Virginia Wesleyan 3-1. We played Cal the the following Sunday and yet again the game went to PK's! We scored the winning goal in 2nd period of extra time by Ali Hindly but the lines woman called it for offside! We honestly don't believe it was! Cal then won the shootout. It was very dissapointing but we can't say it wasn't a good year, it was a great year! We also made histoy and bet the schools record with 15 games without a loss! I loved everyday playing here and even though I can not wait to get home for christmas and see my family and friends I am already looking forward and preparing for next season, which I believe we are going to do even better! Bring it on! Go Rock! :)
